Does Poshmark report you to the CRA?

Yes, if you make 30 or more sales on Poshmark in a calendar year, or are paid more than $2,800 there. Since 2024, selling platforms send the CRA a yearly report on their Canadian sellers. Being reported doesn't mean you owe tax.

Check your own numbers

This platform won't report you for this year.

You made fewer than 30 sales on it and were paid $2,800 or less. You may still owe tax: see below.

Do you owe tax on it?

What were you selling?

What platforms send the CRA

  • Your name, address and date of birth
  • Your social insurance number, or business number if you have one
  • How many sales you made and how much you were paid, for each quarter
  • The fees the platform kept
  • The bank account it pays you into, where it has one

When it happens

Platforms report each calendar year by January 31 of the next year. The first reports covered 2024 and were due January 31, 2025. The platform also sends you a copy of what it reported.

Each platform counts on its own

Make 25 sales on Poshmark and 25 on eBay and neither one reports you, because neither reached 30. If you're reselling for profit, you still owe tax on it either way.

Does Facebook Marketplace report to the CRA?

It can only report payments that go through Facebook, which means shipped orders paid at checkout. Cash or an e-transfer for a local pickup never passes through the platform.

How this differs in the US

US platforms report sellers to the IRS on Form 1099-K, with their own thresholds. Canadian sellers are reported to the CRA under the rules on this page.
